Hi I talked to the emergency vet on call and he thinks my dog might have lost a dose of pain meds the previous morning (ie. vomiting?). He recommended I give him his normal dose and wait 3-4 hours. I did that and he does seem to be more comfortable now. Maybe it was just a lapse in pain meds that set him off. He's certainly not as good as he was before the tooth broke but he only has 2 more days before he's operated on. The vet I talked to said that it will be at least 1.5 hours operation since there isn't much crown to work with to remove the tooth. He said that the pain meds my dog is on is actually a very high dose and they wouldn't really recommend giving anything else to him in addition to it. Keep your fingers crossed for Thursday for him please!

Whew, I can breathe again! He made it through the anaesthetic, flipped out when he woke up but when they gave him a sedative he settled down a bit. He can't even walk properly right now, he fell in the hallway and just stayed where he fell. He can't stand to eat, he's falling down while peeing but at least he's alive. They sure did a number on him while he was out though. They pulled his tooth (had to break the root into 3 pieces to do it), drained his anal sacs, cut his nails, and cut off two skin tags. He's so groggy! They gave me pain killers but I don't know when he can start taking them since they gave him stuff while they had him. I'm aiming to give him the meds when we go to bed tonight.

Thanks for your well wishes!

Glad to hear he's awake & on the road to recovery. It is always such a worry. He'll likely feel much better tomorrow. Please do keep us posted.
