Default *** angus is home ***

*** ANGUS IS HOME ****
He is resting in his crate and doing well.
He is on strict crate duty for 6 weeks .. Out of it only to go potty .
He is allowed to walk on his leg when taken
to potty we just have to be careful he does not slip . He not allowed to use the stairs so we will have to lift him there.
Everyone at the hospital loves him .
They said he is an excellent patient ..
He is so sweet and gentle ..
He several medications ..
Carprofen - pain
Cepholexin - antibiotic
Trazadone - anxiety
Promace - sedative
Recuvyra - transdermal for pain ( lasts 4 days )
The bare spot on his back is from the Epidural .
He goes back in 2 weeks for a check and get stitches out .
Then back in 6 weeks for check and X -ray

So glad to see he is home! Poor baby! Just and FYI. We had a pup years ago that had hip surgery. To assist him going out to potty, we used a large pool towel under his back area and lifted him and helped him walk out to the yard to do his business. Please keep up updated on his progress. I bet you are so happy he's home!

I'll bet he is as glad to be home as you are to have him there :-) The restrictions he is under are very much the same as those my dog who had the cruciate surgery was as well. Did your vet give you one of those blue sling things when he was released? It was very helpful in making sure my dog did not slip or mis-step as well as when she was ready to attempt stairs to make sure she was steady and balanced.

Thank you all , he is happy to be home ..
So far doing well.
The vet did not give a sling but did say we could use something such as a towel for support.
