Default New dogs. (I wonder what breeds?)

We just adopted two new doggies from the Cebu City (Philippines) dog pound two weeks ago. They spent a week at the vet's getting all healthy and recuperated from their ordeal. The head vet and manager of the pound always posts pictures of new dogs available for adoption on Facebook and my wife saw Jingle there and started crying. "Just look at that face!" she said. So we went to visit Jingle and see about adopting her. In the cage next to Jingle was Yummy, who is the sweetest, friendliest dog (though Jingle's very sweet too), so we got both.

Jingle looks like a mix of the Philippine primitive dog, the aspin (for "asong Pinoy") with a bit of shepherd dog of some sort, perhaps with some terrier too, as she's smaller than most aspins. She's reddish-brown with black on her ears and muzzle (along with some premature gray around her mouth)/ Ears are erect and large, with a lot of long, feathery hair on them. Her tail is also feathered. Her coat is medium long and somewhat coarse.

Yummy is white and brown, with rather nice markings, a wide head, narrow muzzle, floppy ears that can be perked up or brought out sideways momentarily. She looks like she has some Jack Russell terrier and some beagle in her, maybe.

Both are smallish dogs, female, 2 years old, spayed though I know that Jingle had at least one litter of puppies already and I think Yummy may have had too.

Here's Yummy:

and here's Jingle:

What do you think? Any educated guesses as to what breeds they might have in them? (Hey, this could be a new forum game: Guess the Mutt!)

Hi Jay, wow is that 4 dogs now? How wonderful to adopt two more! I'm not good with breeds but I think you are probably right on both. They are beautiful.

I would give the first one Brittany Spaniel/Beagle/Jack Russel mix.
The second you may have trouble agreeing with but I have fostered a dog that is very similar to her that was a Pekingese mix. What the other half was is beyond me. The deep red hair with black points and a thick tail. Does she have an underbite at all? I did a lot of research on it and found other dogs that were the same breed mix. They all had shorter noses than your girl though.

Little Lucy: Yep, four dogs now. Two big ones and two little ones. I agree that they're all beautiful. The two new girls are obviously happy and even playful now that they have a real home.

Mmckee2006: I just checked Jingle's mouth. No underbite a la a Pekinese. She has a slight overbite, in fact. She sure has big ears though. I really have no idea what she might be: many Filipinos let their dogs roam at large so I guess she's just a Herkeby (her c' be anything).

We brought them home from the vet on Monday and today's Saturday, so they've had ample time to become settled in their new surroundings. Jingle has already found her place in the pack, so she and the Dobies get along OK. Yummy, though, doesn't interact much with the other dogs, refuses to go outside to play along with the rest, and spends much of her time underneath our bed. Rahab, our female Doberman, keeps picking on Yummy and bullying her, which doesn't help matters. It looks as though Yummy is the omega dog of the pack. That's such a shame because she's really a sweet, quiet, extremely friendly dog.

I did notice Yummy and Jingle playing with each other a few minutes ago, but I had to take a shower so I didn't see whether or not Rahab ruined their fun. I just saw that Yummy was back underneath the bed when I came out of the CR.

I'd say Yummy was definately a Beagle x Jack or something similar, and my first thought when I saw Jingle's ears was Papillion mix! Lovely looking poochies!
