Just...no :/

The sad thing is...those mixed breeds cost more then well bred pure bred dogs and they(the mixed breeds) have the same predictably(none) in health/temperament and otherwise as dogs in shelters/rescues.

Don't understand the designer dog craze, the people who have to have them or the breeders who create them. To me it's all money and status.

While I admit it is adorable, I just don't get it.

I have a "puggle" and yes to be frank, a designer breed. I will often get asked how much he costs. Well, I didn't spend ANY money on him! He was FREE for me. I think he was about $600, but he was also a "clearance" puppy. I am not quite sure why but his receipt said something to that effect. Maybe because he'd been there for a long time, or maybe because he doesn't look like a normal "puggle". He doesn't have the uniform puggle look but hey I think he's way cuter. $2,500-$3,000 for a dog is laughable. I really don't think I'd even spent that much on a purebred (unless it was a bloodhound I was going to use for Search and Rescue). I don't really understand the craze either. In my opinion, breeding a pug and the beagle was the worst idea in history. I LOVE my dog, but he came with tons of issues that some people just can't handle and they'll wind up in shelters do to that. He's a sweetheart, never shown any aggression and is submissive by nature - but his hyperactivity is enough to annoy anyone. He gets walked, hiked now and he's also older, but some people cannot handle the "puggle" package. Same with any designer dog...or dogs in general. Allergies don't matter much when you can't deal with the dogs activeness!

Ama, well said. I don't want to offend anyone, but a mutt is a mutt is a mutt. These designer dog prices are out of control. Save a lot of money, and do what Matlese love did... adopt a dog that needs a good loving home. I just don't understand why people want to play with genetics, to find the perfect dog. There is a perfect dog waiting for you right at your local shelter.

Actually with Lucy people were offended when I said she was 'a pure bred mix' or Heinz 57! There couldn't have been a sweeter dog on earth!

All purebreds were once mixed breeds but some things can go too far.
