Default Pit Bull the Generic Label

Hero Pooch Takes Bullet for Owner, Helps Thwart Robbery | NBC New York

Va. officer shoots pit bull after child attacked - NBC12.com-Richmond, VA News, Weather, Traffic & Sports

Just an interesting fact-Newport News is where Michael Vick was from-hence his fighting operation being Bad Newz

Hero or...and what kind of dog were either one of these dogs exactly? If the first story featured a German Shepard it would still be a heroic dog, but pit bull makes the headline. In the second story if it had been a dog that looked like a lab, would it still be considered a pit mix because it attacked or would it just be considered a fluke and not even newsworthy?

Wonder what the boy did to the dog first. I bet he isn't telling either
That day or days in the past.

Techie, I was thinking the same thing. When I was a kid, we had 2 boys that used to tease a neighbors German Shepard. The house was at the end of the street, and was also our school bus stop. The boys would take sticks and poke them through the fence, and then run the length of the fence with the sticks banging along the way. The dog did get out one day, and yes, he went after both boys. There is always 2 sides to every story.

While there there 2 sides to story a well adjusted dog shouldn't attack may be chase but that's it! And once again the media name the breed of dog "The Pit Bull Terrier" it makes me sick this breed has had it's fair share of bad publicity There's nothing worng with the breed but the owners don't blame the dog!!!!

Down here, any dog attack, particularly on a child, particularly involving the police and a weapon discharge, would make the news.
