Default Rogue Ads!

I need some technical help on this one guys. I have bought my self a new device called the intempo Evolve and been testing it out on various websites! Dogforum was one of them but apart from the normal site ads I have seen quite a few rogue ads like in particular you have won a Iphone click here before the time runs out! I never click on any of these ads, My OS is android Version 2.3 my question is does this site try and block these rogue ads? Because even if you scroll down the ad is still there Thank you in advance

That's the thing techie there's many browsers out there!! The other point is the OS is Android and a lot of mobile phones use the same OS. My friends phone also uses the Android OS and he can block these ads I have checked various menus but can't find any where to block these ads. I think I will phone the manufactures to see if there are settings/apps available or they could do a software upgrade to include optitions to block these annoying ads! Cause that's what they are!

You will also need to consider anti-virus for your mobile device. Mobile smart devices, regardless of OS, are vulnerable to the same attacks as a PC.

Even though it's a set top box? I will have to speak to the manufacture there's probably some settings need to be set up or download a app for it? Thanks vagreys Update I spoke with Intempo and they said because it uses a search engine (Google) it's less likely prone to attacks ( I don't believe this for one min!) So I said well these viruses are every where wether it's a direct web site you type in or you get there via Google! As for the rogue ads they are looking to see if there is a app/setting out there that will block these types of ads for me

Heya Bigboy,

Since your new device runs Android (and the default Android browser is pretty good) it should work well with the forums, and most other websites - in fact, it should be the "best" browsing device I've seen you talk about so far. You shouldn't be having a problem with popup ads from our site, and the general lack of traditional malware on Android means I'd be surprised if you'd picked up something that would be causing popups and the like there. The big thing to be careful with on Android is apps from the Market that request permission to far more of your personal data on the device than they need (every app will show you a list of the permissions it requires before you install it - an app that does something like show you the weather shouldn't be needing access to, say, your internet browsing history. Be careful of these.)

Could you perhaps elaborate a little more on what you mean by a "rogue" ad?

Hiya Chipp The ad in question said congratualtions you have won a Iphone it was flashing on this forum telling me to click 'here' as time is running out! At the top right of the ad was a x in a circle ( which to me means close the ad) It didn't and opened it up  And where ever I went on the forum it followed me even down the page. I feel there should be more protection from these sorts of ads. The Android OS is stable enough but needs options on devices that use the OS to block these ads My friends phone has got pop up ad blockers but my device does seem to have any menus to stop these ads in the first place! If any one knows of a reliable pup up ad blocker let me know Thanks!
