Default Remember Me Login

HI all Can any one tell me how long does the remember me check box stays logged in for? As my email provider keeps going off line on a regular basis even when I am in my email account I get errors so can't open emails and write/send emails
Some times when you are logged in to dog forum via www.dogforum.org and you go to different part of the site it seems not to rememeber me even when checked. I have no problem when visiting the site via a email notification I stay logged in everytime I visit.

Is there any chance that the remember me cookie expires to quickly? Does any one visiting dogforum directly get the same problems even though you have just logged in. and remember me has been activaited, only to find that after visiting different parts of dogforum at the top of the page you are no longer logged in? The way round it is to have a menu list (drop down) saying 1. Keep me logged in till i exit the site. 2 Keeop me logged in for 24 hrs. 3. Keep me logged in for 7 days. 4. Keep me logged in for ever ( till the remember me cookie expires. I have seen these options on another forum.

Like I say the email notifactions when clicked on keeps you logged in to dogforum so there's no problems there till my email provider goes of line for what ever reason and it's happening more and more. Bush email don't seem to be doing much about it apart from the usual [email protected] they keep telling you. So If the login cookie can be adjusted so it does 'remember me' for a longer period of time this would helpful If the period of time can be increased then you may not need a drop down that members can select how long the require to be logged in. Thanks in advance. ATB

The dogforum cookie expiration appears to be set at 2 years (at least in my folder). You may have a policy in your machine, or wherever your cookies are stored, that clears cookies on a regular basis.

The Set top Box has a cookie cache They only expire when the list is full or the cookie is over written. It takes a good period (weeks) of time before I have to login again. Yes I do have to login some times even via a email notification, but it's every time I visit dogforum via www.dogforum.org each time I visit dogforum I have to login each time I don't have to login each time via email notifications that's why i thought when visiting via the www. route there may be a time out on the cookie. I can check my list and see when it does expire. but it does seem that every time I visit via www. route the previous cookie has expired meaning I need to login again. God knows how long it will be before my email provider sort out the current login error messages it's real pain. For this reply I did manage to visit via the email route hence I am still logged in and I will be tommorow and all next week. if I can get in to my emails! The email route seems to have a longer expiry on the cookie so I don't need to login with every email notification I click on wether it's a new email notification or old one, and I know this. As If there was I also say theres a problem this route too. but there isn't a problem Thanks for your reply
