Default Texas Station mouseover drop down ad

Is anyone else having problems with the Texas Station ad? At first I could click on close and it would close. Now every time I click on close, it doesn't close but instead takes me to a full page ad. When I close the full page ad and go back to the DF main page, the dropdown ad is still there and I can't see the first few new posts no matter what I do.

I'm using a borrowed computer but it was fine until I logged on this time.

I am not sure about the ad as I don't see it. But as it is a borrowed computer have you scanned it for ad bots and spy bots? Maybe you should try and download the program and see it you might have some ad or spy bots on there.

You can get ad aware and/or spybot.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html That is the link for spybot.
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php That is for the Ad aware program.

It might be worth a try.

If it is what is called an "intrusive" ad that covers the content portion of the site, I'm sure admin will be happy to get it blocked. We do need the URL however.

Skunk, I struggled with the darned thing for 15 minutes before I started this thread. Wouldn't you know I haven't seen it since? If it pops up again, I'll be sure to get the url and report it.

It's not spyware seraphyn. I've seen the ad here many times on both computers. Never had any problems with it before today.

Here's the link to the page it takes me to when I click on close.
http://www.stationcasinos.com/stci07/

At the time it popped up this time I had clicked on New Posts. Couldn't see the first few new posts so I clicked on close and this is where it took me again.

Who are we supposed to report these things to? I probably already know, but with so much going on here, it's completely slipped my mind.

Do ads on here generate money for Dogforum to keep the site up and running? The only problem I seem to get is when I try to scroll past the ad to get to posts my cursor will not go past it but I do have a work around bring the cursor to the top of page then I can can scroll past the ads.

Carol, I do not see what you see on here at all.? Where is it? Usually they ads sometimes pup up and blind me but have not seen any lately at all. I do not know what is bothering you as it has been very good.

Bigboy - yes the ads generate money to keep the forum up and running. Without the ad revenue, there would be no dogforum. This is why we are not thrilled when someone posts a "how to" block ads.

At the same time, there are ads that are not at all annoying, and those that are annoying to the point where it interferes with member's enjoyment of the forum. Admin does NOT want ads of the second kind, and even though the setup is suppose to prevent those kind of ads from coming through, sometimes the advertisers don't abide by the rules. In those cases he will be delighted to block the ad in question.

Carol you have reported it by posting here in the Site Techncial Issues subforum. Perfect!

Pat the ads you see depend on your location - we do not all see the same thing. This is why you have to track down the URL in order for us to take action. If we can't see it ourselves, there isn't much we can do about it.

Hi

We do not allow intrusive ads here - but we heavily rely on advertising to partially offset our costs. Did you know that each day, DogForum.org spends 10 times what it makes on advertising on advertising the site itself! So if we "made" $1 today, we would have spent $10 in advertising DogForum.org! As you can see it's not a profit-driven website We do it for the love of our pups.

So that being said, if you see a misbehaving ad, please let us know the click through URL (where it clicks through to) so that we can block it through our providers. Please also take a screen capture of what the ad is doing if you can.

Thanks so much,
admin

It's still happening and becoming more and more frequent. How do I do a screen capture?
