Default Reputation system?

I have been on forums that use a reputation system. It can be good or it can be bad, the moderators have to monitor it to make sure it is not abused. I have also been on a forum that has only GOOD rep, that seems to work well.

Are we going to have a reputation system ?

I was also thinking about section for the different types of dogs like, the working dog forum, Toy dogs, terriers etc etc. Just a thought.

Great question! We will add the rep system and will allow members to give positive rep to other members when warranted Expect this to be in place tonight.

Thanks

i think a good idea is to put the rep up once u get a certain amount of posts up so for eg: when u get 10 posts u get 1 rep added and every 10-20 after that(but u only get 1 rep still)

Sounds good to me. Some have starts others have names with certain amount of posts your karma goes to another level.

We'll work out a scale for everything, but we need to get a good feel for how to scale things. On the other site we work on, you get flames above your avatar at 50, 100, 200, 300, and 600 REPs. You also give more reps as your rep count goes up. I'm sure we'll do the same here. I'll post up some guidelines for the proper use of reps on the site.

Generally we feel that reputation count is more important than post count when it comes to establishing your "status" on the site. We welcome everyone to the site, of course, regardless of their contribution they make, but we want to give some extra recognition to the members who are viewed as the most helpful by their peers.

We need to devise something appropriate for the various reps levels. Maybe bones, puppy faces, or something else that matches the theme of the site. Ideas?

Here are the guidelines on the proper use of REPs here. Please feel free to comment.
