Default Recalls

I would like one sticky to post recalls on and they would not be so scattered.

If you follow the Pet food recalls over the past year it CRAZY!
All of these brands have had recalls
-Canidae
-Counry value
-Diamond natural
-Taste of the wild
-Wellness
-Country value
-Natural balance
-Steves Real Food
-The honest kitchen
-Natures Variety

Makes you think twice about how much research you do into the production process of this stuff

We do. In May of last year, I added a sticky to the FDA Recall Website, which now links you directly to the page in that website for animal safety and health recalls and withdrawals, which is where the animal feed recalls are listed. Every recall you've posted is first announced on that page (or on the individual manufacturer's website before they notify the FDA). The page lists all verified voluntary recalls, FDA requested recalls, and FDA ordered recalls.

During the melamine debacle and the Diamond plant shutdown, rumors were flying all over the internet, some announcing recalls of foods that weren't involved or recalled, some of which turned out to be targeted attempts to take advantage of the confusion and hurt a brand that had no troubles. We chose to link to the source, instead. Recall notices include links to the manufacturer websites, where rapidly changing information may be posted, as happened during the Diamond shutdown. So, this way, you are getting the information directly from the sources, and not potential internet rumor. It also gives you access to the reporting mechanism, if you are having dog food quality problems; and, it shows other kinds of recalls that don't commonly get mentioned, like recalls of mineral packs used in a variety of feeds, and recalls that involve feeds for other animals like cats and parakeets and farm animals.
