Janie honey, I could care less if I win, it is not a big deal, just fun entering for attention. It is very hard to enter natural photos as to professional ones taken, I would surely think most can see. If I run a contest, it would be for all members taken of their dogs by them or family member in care you might be controling the dog for the photo. I ran a contest one time and it kinda got out of hand, never posted a pole before and had alot of enteries, now it seems nobody is much interested, some are busy outdoors now and just plain do not know likeing all photos hates to be partial to anybody.

I feel this way that all that enter is good enough to do so and should get votes as when I hunt and find a photos it takes me often a long time with hundreds stored on my computer. I should not of even entered as I did not really get my best photos posted, but just for fun I like to do what the board is doing as best I can. I was shocked to win in Feb, that was enough, let somebody else get the ribbon now that deserves it well.

It would be so nice to have a forum calendar made with contributions made by members posting their pets to pay for the printing. But then that could cause a big conflict also as many would want their pets on and some would not make it with 12 months in a year. Nice if we could come up with something all kinda wins something from all making nice remarks or replies and it makes all feel worth while for trying but what on earth would we come up with for that? I love to make members happy, but just hard to spread the wealth to all.

Contests run should be natrual of all pets in photos taken and all members should take an interest and vote for one they might just like a little better so a winner can be announced, but look closely at alll phots, think about all the efforts put into that special one your thinking of voting for, type of camera used, yes, often you can tell, the work envolved by the person taking time to get the shot of whatever the contest if about, put all facts together then vote, but stop and think hard of the efforts made to post a good photo taken naturally by owner or family member helping out. Just a personal opinion I know I stand for hours on end just to get a photo of my dogs stopping a few seconds for one at all. lol.

It is good fun having competitions just participateing and voteing is fun

and so nice to see everyones photos in a collection and under a theme on another forum I on they had a competition and many many photos were submitted and the voteing went through the roof, the winner I think had a little icon next to thier name for a while which was nice

the calander could be the 12 winners of 12 competitions

I think this set of photos have been absolutely great.

I seem to get a lot of bums in photos you get a good pose then wait fro my slow slow camera and by the time the shutters down the nice pose gone and several bums in the air, dogs bums that is just incase you were wondering lol

Thanks for posting this janie! Vote vote vote!

We did have a discussion about a calendar a while back. We had asked members to submit other members' photos but would you believe some people were annoyed that their pictures were suggested? Hopefully everyone is aware that if you post a picture, you are giving dogforum the right to use it, regardless of any copyright it may have.

One of the competitions I posted was a complete bomb - dogs recovering from injury. I guess I have to ask "What was I thinking?" because we got a thread with a lot of unhappy looking dogs.

Picking a good theme seems to make a big difference so if anyone has some good ideas for future themes, please post them.

How about a comp for the best bottom (doggie) I can get loads of photos of dog bums lol lol

or my doggie on a posh day or not such a posh day 2 different comps

or the best scallywag picture (naughty dogs)

Made me laugh thinking about the photos of recovering dogs the thought of a hospital ward full of recovering patients sprang to mind lol lol not quite so happy but a good theme really as you could have had lots of different colour bandages, lamp shade hats, pampered pooches just takes imagination to make things fun

cant beleive people would mind thier photo being nominated but then theres nout as strange as folk
