Default Old Threads

With all the great new changes coming about; Is there any way old threads could be closed and archived to prevent them from being reopened months later?

Many of the old threads contain good information and they're useful for reference purposes. But newer members are often unaware that what they're reading is woefully out of date.

It's probably just as disappointing to them to discover they've responded to a dead thread as it is to older members who are expecting a new thread only to discover it's an old one that's no longer relevant.

Archived threads could also clear up a lot of unnecessary clutter.

It sounds easy as pie from this end. But then the suggestion is coming from someone who is at least a gazillion gigabytes short of qualifying as a geek!
