An Adoptable section?

It is admittedly a little self serving:) by why not have an adoption section. I network with many rescues that are out of state. Many times there is a rescue that has say for instance a pug they are trying to place up in Pa and have been trying unsuccessfully for months to place but I have a potential adopter here who is looking for a pug.( I say potential because afterall it would be the other rescues criteria they would have to meet) Just a thought.

There is a Dog Rescues section.:)

That sounds great, but yeah we should get more people to post in our rescues section because theres soo many dogs now needing homes and it would be great if someone looking for a mate for their dog or just another dog to see what is to offer before buying a puppy.

Is it ok to post pics of a rescues adoptable pets there? I thought it was only for pets in need of a rescue. My thinking was if people are not actually doing rescue they may not visit that section but if they were looking for a dog they may check an adoptable section.~ Caroline & Critters

As far as I know there is not a restriction on posting about pets in need of a home.
I was under the impression that the purpose of the rescues section was for stories about rescued dogs that had already been adopted, but I could be mistaken.
I can see your point about wanting to post adoptable pets-I think the only concern that I might have is that there might be many many more postings than potential adopters.
If it is breed specific you may have better luck posting in the section for that breed, since someone looking for say a Pug might not necessarily be looking in the rescue section but would be hunting around in the "Toy Group" subforum.
Just my thoughts.

I think it's a good idea.....gives those dogs another chance for a forever home.

I agree. An Adoptions section would be neat. They can be updated, with pictures, their story, information and general personality to help find someone willing to bring a pup in need into their family.

With all the needy dogs available on petfinder, local community, breed and all breed rescues and local rescue online networks; there really wouldn't be much of a chance for a dog to be adopted from a rescue thousands or even hundreds of miles away if it was posted here.

Also the majority of legitimate rescues wouldn't even consider placing a dog out of their jurisdiction. They wouldn't be able to do a home check or counsel the new owners if problems should arise in the new home.

There have been some available dogs mentioned here in the past and if one of them has ever found a home because of it I don't remember it.

If this site were allowed to become a haven for rescuers to post needy dogs it could also attract the unscrupulous quasi-rescuers posting sad tales of non-existent dogs and pleading for donations.

I have no objection whatsoever to established members occasionally posting information on needy dogs, but I sure wouldn't want to see it become cluttered up with stories of helpless dogs in far away rescues with no way to check the credentials of the "rescuers".:2cents:
