Do you mean like a chat box (tag-board) for members to chat with each other? I use these on forums I create as I find them very useful, but sometimes they attract nuisance posters and basic spam. You put them at the bottom of the main page of forums/websites/blogs etc. This is the site that I go to to get one:

We do have a chat feature going on another site, so there is a possibility of having a chat room hosted on the site if there is enough interest. I'm not sure where this would fall on the priority list for the site, but if the interest level is high, we can bump the priority of looking into this higher up the list.
