Yes introduce the redirection methods when ever Sherlock goes to her space
Good work and please keep us updated!!!
Hi Dave,

What I meant by "outside" and "inside" is that we're teaching him those words as we taught Summers. That way, both dogs know when it's time to go outside and when it's time to go inside when they're done doing their business (like at night, when it gets really dark here, especially in our backyard.)

We don't let Sherlock go potty inside at all. About a week or two after we got training pads, I read online that they were the worst way to potty train dogs and that they teach dogs that they can pee anywhere inside. We packed those up, but I'm considering getting them out again to put inside his crate when we go out places for extended hours so he won't pee on his crate liner.

I'll let you know if redirecting him gets any better. Right now, it's pretty much the same as it was when I started this topic.

Hi Mandy but this is what I have been saying. You are saying it's ok inside to potty some times and sometimes it's not ok!Well that's the way I read your post? And that's where the confusion from the dog's point of view is happening glad you packed away the pads! But hang on you are getting them out again?? Again this is confusing for Sherlock ( how old is he now?) Extended hrs away from home could result in a accident in the house/crate he is only
a pup still! Could you not get a trusted friend/family member in to let him out for pee/poop when you are out for a extended amount of time?

As for redirecting training it takes time, Rome wasn't bulit in a day so stick with it Mandy and let us know of any progress!!
