So... I stumble into my CP and see that someone has left "rep" comments. Had no idea this existed. Is there a way to be notified of messages or comments? The folks that have made comments on my posts were very kind but that was some months ago so now I feel silly saying "oh uh.. thanks." :P I guess I don't really understand what the whole Rep thing is about but I can read on that one. I know I've seen it brought up before. I just want to know if there's a checkbox somewhere that says "contact me if comments are left" and "contact me when someone sends me a private message." It's probably obvious but...

Thanks much for any help.

For PMs, you can choose to get e-mails and/or popups when you receive a new message. There are not similar options for receiving reps, but just check your UserCP on a regular basis (which you'll do all the time if you use thread subscriptions ) to keep on top of reps. Your rep number is also shown in your postbit, so you can see when you get new ones there.

yeah - well, this swiss-cheese brain of mine has trouble with that.

Thanks for the help. I generally don't subscribe to threads but perhaps I should. I just find it mostly clutters my inbox. OTOH, my brain obviously can't remember these things so...

Personally, I do subscribe to threads automatically, but I choose to have no notifications. That way, with a quick click on my UserCP, I can easily follow all of the threads I'm posting in (without cluttering up my PM or e-mail inbox). It's nice, too, because it shows me my recent PMs as well as reps. There are, of course, lots of good ways to keep track of things on the site, but that's the one that works well for me.
