I doubt Remember Me has any effect. It certainly didn't for me. The admins started with very conservative criteria, and gradually loosened it up, some, as it became clear what the impact of some settings were. Mostly, now we deal with detecting the human spammers who can navigate Captcha.

One would think it would help but there's a lot more crietiera than that I would think. Same IP address? I have never had the Capcha's on my older equipment or to mention this on my Wii or the new Evolve. When I first signed up with my BB provider I asked for a static IP address and got one!. Maybe some things could be changed before the Captcha kicks in. Like how long a member someone is so if some one joins up and they are only a say a week in to membership then they could be Captched! etc, etc. And I have taken over 5 mins with a long pause while typing this reply it was a 'Quoted' reply and still no Captcha to negotiate, well not for me any way!

'Remember Me' doesn't affect it at all. Since I'm the only computer user in the house (Kenzie has no computer priveleges...), I keep all my favorite forums permanently signed in.

The capcha's still keep showing up if I use either the 'quotation' feature. I haven't figured out whether it's a certain number of smilies or specific ones that also trigger it.

I can always read one of the two words because it's a real word, the other is just a collection of random letters of the alphabet and that one gets tough, sometimes I get lucky the first time and guess right, others....sigh!!

Ok so we know that the remember me mode doesn't stop the Captcha's Km do you have a floating IP address or static one? I'am pretty sure this does make a difference!

I have a dynamic IP address and there's no way I'm switching to a static one!!

I work in the telecommunications industry (and sell internet products) and the difference is price is way more than I'm willing to pay.

It actually SHOULDN'T make a difference but then I'm not privy to how this particular BB is set up.

The email address one uses for contact information MIGHT make a difference, I should try changing mine to see.

Well in my case I only pay 6.49 a month and a static IP address isn't extra. I don't think changing your email notification address will help (but no harm in trying!) as you have used the current one for some time now? It maybe some domains like for Eg: Hotmail/Yahoo may be causing this problem Cause at the moment my inbox has loads of @hotmail.com spam coming in on a daily basis So if your email address also ends in @hotmail.com (A known source of spam) it's possible that the captcha system picks up on this and sees eveyone using the hotmail domain as a potential spammer! Just a thought worth considering Hope you get the problem sorted though

Bigboy, a static IP will make a difference, but a static IP address can become a security risk, because the address is always the same. Static IP's make it easier for data mining companies to track.

The main device I use to browse/post on here is what can I say is pretty secure and my router is wired to my devices. I know the router seems to be protected as when my friend trys to see in our street who not locked (secured) their internet connection my router is always locked I thought a static IP address would make a difference and it has And in any case phising etc can take place anytime and any place so no one is completley safe I no longer buy anything on line as my bank details are for my eyes only There's a lot of bad people out there
