Default New Fur Niece!

Ok, so heres the low down, my brother, and his wife, are not really animal people, they have one cat, but its a mainly outdoor cat, and they have never had a dog, because my brother has never really liked them, but today, on impulse they got a puppy (i gave them a lecture), it was a free to good home mix, black lab x something... lol she is 6 weeks old, and looks quite healthy.

They had no clue about asking questions to the lady who was giving them away. so i went back with my brothers wife, and talked to the lady myself, the mother dog is mainly indoors, and is in really good health, she is also very very freindly and social, i asked the lady all about the mothers health, and what food they were giving the pups, and if the had their vaccines vet check ect, they didnt have vaccines, but had just been wormed, and vet checked. mother dog has no bad health issues, and although they dont feed them the best dogfood, she looked very well taken care of. there was 6 pups in all and the lady said her dog was black lab x pit bull (i saw NO pit bull at all) and the father dog was a neighbors dog that wanders, and is a black lab x chow mix. he is very freindly, but not very well taken care of and we dont really know about his health.... but in all it was not a bad situation, they were not backyard breeders or anything like that, their dog yard was well taken care of and the dogs looked really good.

so i took my sis to petsmart to make sure she got everything she needed for the new pup, and got her stuff for potty training, and food, bowls, leash/collar, toys, treats and a few other small things. I made her take a brochure for puppy classes and talked to her about how important it is to train and socialize her puppy, and also had a long talk with her daughter about how to treat the puppy (she is not very good with animals and can be mean sometimes) i told her the puppy was like a baby, and you have to be very gentle, she knows all about how to be with a baby as my other brother just had one and lives right next door to them, so i think she may have gotten my point (i saw her drop the puppy on the ground a few times before i said anything)

so without further adue... here is Lola

Lola is adorable. Your sister is lucky to have you to kick start her into properly raising a pup. I do hope they act responsibly now that they have her & train her to be a great dog.

thanks everyone! hopefully they actually listen to me, and do things right with this pup, they cant afford to feed the really expensive dogfood, but i made sure to have them get large breed puppy chow, as she is gonna be big, the mommy was about 60lbs and the daddy dog is about 80 lbs. im trying to get them on the right track and i really hope they do things right with this pup.
