Default Whinning and body spasms in his sleep...

I figured it would just go away with time but I am worried now. Whenever Stevie goes to sleep he starts whinning, sometimes his body spasms and sometimes he tosses and turns. I am awake most of the night with him because of it. After I pet him a few times he wakes up and crawls in my arms and goes to sleep for a while but then once he tosses and turns his way out of my arms he starts to whine and spasm again. Could this be a health issue or just bad dreams?

How long does it last? It sounds like bad dreams. My dog will twitch, spasm, growl, whine, and breathe heavily in her sleep, but it never lasts much more than a few minutes at a time.

It lasts only a few minutes but then like 3 or 4 minutes later it starts up again.

Colbi does that a lot. She gets bad dreams. She'll be sleeping and then start twitching her paws and whining, breathing a little heavier, then she'll be fine. Sometimes it happens more than once in a night, but she always ends up being fine.

Flip and Lilly both do that. Some night it scares the [email protected] out of me cause you hear this really loud breathing and whimpering next to your ears

Flip is a 100% house dog but Lilly stays outside sadly. I do bring her into the garage to sleep at night and latly seince it has been so warm out and the garage gets warm I have been snecking Lilly into my room when my parents and brother goes to bed So far they haven't found out yet, unless they do but don't say anything. Then again, how can you not hear 10 legs going down to the basement

I would not worry too much - this is normal from what you have described.

i'd almost 100% sure it's nightmares or reg. dreams.
trust me if it was a seizure...youd def. KNOW IT! it is a VERY scary thing and there are alot more things that come with seizures, even the small ones. pups tend to do this more for some reason i've noticed. or when my pups had a hard day of play time...it gets bad.
but on a normal day they just toss and turn a little and then their fine.
