Default Scare of my life

So I was sitting at my computer, I think I was reading through this forum when my wife come charging in the back door franticly saying "Hardy's hurt, Hardy's hurt". so I jump up, run outside just to See hardy in the middle of the yard happily chewing on his favorite ball. "He looks fine" I said but my wife assured me he had hurt his legs and can't get up. I go over and start feeling his legs and manipulating his joints looking for a sign of injury, all the while hardy is still happily chewing and taking the odd play nip at my hands. I assured here again that he was fine. So I pulled out a treat and called him to come. Sure enough he tried to get up, and awkwardly fell right back over without so much as a yelp or wine. He went back to his Ball and was quiet happy with all the attention he was getting. Well now I'm freaked, I'm in emergency mode. I called the local animal hospital for advice and wait times while my wife brought the car around back. by this time Hardy had managed to get to his feet, With a heavy limp but still no signs of pain. I called off the immediate Vet run and we observed him as he limped around. His condition was definitely improving and from what I could tell it was a problem with one of his front leg/legs. I did make the decision to take him for a quick vet exam when he tumbled down our back steps (2) that he usually bounds down.
Its was a slow day and the vet saw us after only a sort wait. He gave Hardy a clean bill of health. I was doing this just to be safe and to find out what may have happened. There where some language barriers but All I really found out from the visit was hardy is fine. It worried me more that he was hurt but showed no sign of pain or discomfort.

Hardy was behind my wife when he let out a yelp or two than hit the ground. She doesn't believe she stepped on his paw but it could be a possibility.

Any one on the forum have a possible diagnosis, or similar event or story?

Sorry to hear about you pup......How old is he again? Have you taken him for a long walk recently? This happened to me and Bruno when he was young....pulled a muscle and had a hard time walking for a couple of days....

Hmmm, I don't know what could have possibly caused that. Sounds very strange to me & I can only imagine how worried you were. I do hope it was just that isolated incident & just worth a good scare.

yeah. He's fine now, 100%. I don't have a clue what that was. may be a pinched nerve or something . The first week I had him I slammed his paw in the car door. He was crying and holding his paw in the air and when i touched it he would yelp. I thought that would have been my first emergency vet trip, but he walked it off in a few minutes. At least with that I knew what happened and where and why he was hurt. Life with a puppy I guess.

(both Hardy and myself are much better around car doors now)

aww im glad hardys ok! puppies do seem to go through the mill don't they! I dropped a tin of beans on my yorkie's head it was awful, she was walking past at the exact time i dropped it and it got her on the head!! she had her head down at the time and so fled out of fear, she was terrified, as it came from me she thought it was intentional and was scared of me!?!? i know how awful, it took ages before she calmed down poor mite!! she was fine thank goodness and forgave me. She also started limping after a long walk and i was like - omg shes got a luxatting patellamethingy ahhhh! but the vet couldnt find anything wrong. puppies dont seem to know their limits somtimes, they'll play with a ball and its not until you put the ball away that they realise how tired they are - awww - puppies

I'm glad to hear hardy is okay. Having a similar issue here. Unfortunately I have a doc appt tomorrow and can't take Ming.

He is not wanting to put weight on his back leg and I've examined it as closely as I can. He lets me extend it. Yesterday we went for a run in the park and he was fine. Had a blast. Though he did run more than usual and I'm hoping he just overdid it. But if he's still this tender with it tomorrow I'll take him in Thursday. I hate to wait at all.

Hopefully hardy won't have a recurrence of this event and Ming's problem will be just as minor.
