Default Wonder why my puppy is so tired?

My little Gracie has been very quiet today. It is warm out, but yesterday was warm and she was more active. Today she sleeps and sleeps, not her normal self at all. This puppy hardly sleeps. She usually sleeps in the morning and a nap in the evening.

She is laying in the grass right now snoozing. The dog next door is out too and she is just sleeping. I wonder what is going on here. She did eat but she ate late and I had to coax it by adding yogurt to her food.

She is six months old, is this normal for this to happen, or should I be concerned?

Dunno-if she is eating and drinking I would nto worry. Maybe she didn't get much sleep last night and is making up for it now? They don't act the same each and every day. If she is not her normal self tomorrow then I might worry.

I noticed the same thing happening to my Jenny. I know she'll perk up again come winter. She always slows down a LOT in the summer. I find especially on humid days. She doesn't even move on humid days.

It's probably just a down day... dogs have up and down days just like us. If weather doesn't normally affect her, she'll probably back to normal in a few days!

Other then the humidity I don't know what would be causing it... You didn't change food or anything, like to something that had less nutritional value?

Try not to worry.

Sometimes they just have days like that; however, if she's still the same tomorrow, I'd likely worry too. Did she get into anything unusual? Is she eating & drinking normally? Eliminating normally?

Mum's Sheltie is always way less active in the summer. Sometimes days that don't seem any hotter to ME, he lays there looking at me like "Gawd! How can you stand this?!?". *shrug* I'll go with the others and say if she acts oddly a few days in a row, then maybe it's worth checking out.

I understand that dogs are less active in the summer, but I've never seen her so lazy! LOL

She has eaten, had water and so far she pooped today. I am concerned that she could still have worms though. We will be bringing in a stool sample to the vet on Monday.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. It really helps.

Less active in the heat is normal. Depression is not.

If she hasn't played at all or isn't showing interest in all the things she normally does, then there's a legitimate cause for concern.

Hi Katz and Borziomom.........

We took in a sample of her poop on Tuesday and we did not receive any news about it. So they say no news is good news!

She is fine as far as energy goes. I gave her some raw chicken the other day and it seemed to affect her bowels. She pooped some mucous of some kind. I also caught he wretching in the living room. I found some stains in the living room too, that might have been puke too. I'm not sure, but you know puppies eat things and maybe the chicken was too hard on her tummy.

Other than that we have to work on some of her issues.....sigh....more work!!! But we still love her and are working at it.
