Default I need help regarding my puppy eating poo.

I have a 5 month old chihuahua, and I'm having terrible problems with him eating his own poo, and sometimes he eats my other dogs poo, and on occasion the pet rabbits poo. This has become a severe problem, even though he is getting older, he keeps on doing it. I find this totally disgusting.

Would anyone know a solution to this problem?

Thanks.........

Try giving an 1/8th teaspoon of sea kelp on top of your pups food. Sea kelp is very nutritious for your pup and it also has the added bonus of making his poop unpalatable to him.

Thanks Dob.. I saw your posts on the links I was previoulsy given by Katz. The sea kelp is our next step, hopefuly it will work

BTW, I see you like Dobermans? we had two and theyre the best dogs on the planet, really really great. Our last one died in 1997 from throat cancer, and still to this day we still havent got over it (she was only 7) she used to stand on her hind legs and and put her two paws on your shoulders and give you a cuddle if she accidently hurt you -- she was the best, I'm filling up now thinking about it.

thanks for the help though.

Doberman, I am still having trouble with Gracie doing this. I have tried Forbid, and meat tenderizer. It worked short term, but the moment she realized there was nothing in her stool anymore she started up again.

I think I will try the sea kelp too. Where can I purchase it? Will it be in powder or just the kelp itself?

I tend not to worry too much about this. When my two were puppies and even now, they still insist on eating my rabbits poos.... and sheep poo and even lick cow poos.....

they still survive and Im sure there must be something in there that even does them good.

I've heard that adding PINEAPPLE to a dogs diet stops them eating their own poo. Dogs like poo , especialy rabbit poo, they are like chocolate drops to them Actually ive heard the pineapple thing suggested loads of times and ppl say he gives results, but obviously this dosnt help with the rabbit poo.

Well what is even more disgusting is that it may depend on your dog's diet. Some dog foods contain additives that make the poo taste bad to them.
Another thing you can try is meat tenderizer, that is supposed to make the poo taste so bad that they won't eat it.

I am doing the meat tenderizer now, and have used it before. It has not worked too well with our girl............
