Unhappy She doesnt like me anymore ?

Hi everyone,

Well my 12 week old rotti pup which ive had for 4 weeks was all great, I run a pretty tight ship when it comes to rules and regulations for my girl. Things were fine however lately shes been spending a little time around my mates house who spoil her a bit, also they have a 15 week old rotti x lab x staffi hyperactive thing, which doesnt give her a break the whole time she's there. Latley its like she just doesnt want a bar of me.

When i come home she acts like wow gee not u again ? a slight wag of tail a quick cuddle then back to zzz. When any strangers come around { meaning friends } she gets up and acts all happy n excited, almost i feel to spite me ? lol weird i know.

Can anyone HELP please i want my baby to love me like i love her ?

All thoughts apreciated thankyou very much

well... it doesnt sound like she doesnt like you...
first of all, it is good to have basic consistent rules, but things should not be too booring either. You must be the provider of FUN too otherwise she will not be interested in cooperation.

The other dogs play a lot so of course she will be over there as much as possible. Maybe you should deny that for a while?

first of all, is she getting enough sleep???
If she doesnt of course shell sleep as much as she can with other people and dogs are not around.

Are other people spoiling her? in that case you should tell them not too cause dogs are oppurtunitists and will take the chance to get what they want.

This brings me to you and her, there should be of course rules like, not grabbing food from table, maybe not be in furnitures if that is how you want it and so on.

On the same time you should provide her with an option and fun from YOUR side, like tug of war, some ball playing (not too much), some sniffing games, snuggle tuggle, play with her.. let her chase you, NEVER chase her (cause then she will learn not to come on call in) be FUN. When she coems to you have a surprise treat or play tug this will ensure her keep coming to you.

YOU should be the provider of all fun, this will make her listen more to you and pay attention. If you are all rules and booring of course she rather go to othe rpeople.

If you tell us what rules you are doing and how your days look like maybe we can help you out with some pointers are the schedule etc that make things funnier Hope this was of somesort help..

Hi festa, I know what you mean, as my pup would go crazy over hubby when he came home from work, but when I was out and came home, she hardly went crazy at all. I started to feel like, she loved hubby more than me lol. But I think cause we're the prime carers, and see us more, they go crazy less. I guess it's because they see us more etc.

Also my pup has a Staff play mate and they play for hours with each other. It's fun and I think having a play mate is great for your pup. Is it possible for your friends dog to come to your house, where you can monitor the pups? That way you can make sure, your pup isn't being spoiled, and may be take it in turns? Or stop it for a little while. But when pups are together, they are only interested in each other and just want to play.

I loved the pics btw, your dog is gorgeous.

Thanks for the reply's and compliments, she's coming around now i think she was extremley worn out by the xbreed pup lol its an energizer battery that never tires, and a real bitch too . Yes i was prolly a little boring definetly more rules and not enuff fun, i'll curb that a bit.

Also yes i think i will only allow her to have her playmate at my place with my supervision because they will spoil her no matter what .

Hello and welcome to the forum. Great to have you with us. Cute pups! Thanks for sharing their pics with us.

It sounds to me like it is a combination of what Maggie said & that your friends are spoiling her & what's not fun about that? I'm the caregiver here too & Ozzy goes wild for Mark when he gets home from work and for a short time I barely exist to him & I'm here all day & night with him. If a friend comes over to visit, he hardly has time for either one of us.

I think Monkey is right, you need to be the provider of fun. Our dog is always WAY more excited when my hubby gets home than when I do, because he plays with her and tussles and lets her do things I don't. However, I'm the one she follows around the house, because I am the source of training treats and the 'leader', and she always gets really excited when she sees me going for her harness because it means 'walk' or 'dog park'.

It's good to instill solid rules in your pup, especially a dog that will end up being pretty big, but for me the whole point of having a dog is that you get to play with her!

I'd say take advantage of the other dogs energy to tire her out, and make her more compliant when you train her - then take a day off and go play!

Question Pup to Adult introduction

This is all great stuff i'm so glad to have finally found an active! forum that didnt want any money. Thanks so much really making me feel better knowing i have great free sources of information available.

Yes the main reason i was being a bit strict is because i do get the feeling she will be a bigger then the avg rotti her paws are gigantic! lol. So i wanted to make sure from the start she was disiplined.

I have another question if i may. I want to introduce her to my missus' adult dog its well behaved however i've not seen what its like around other dogs, whats the best ways to introduce a 3yr old to my puppy so that they get off on the right foot ?

you are welcome there is a lot of clever people in here... Im in love with this place too.

Id suggest to let them take small walks ON leash together in the beginning. A big dog can easily hurt a puppy without thinking of it.
Then after a few small walks and where you guys have just sit and socialised so the doggies can look and study eachother you can try to let them offleash to play. Do not let them greet ON leash. On leash always cause more tension then off leash. Good luck
