Default When should we go for our next one?

Max is now almost 6 months old (has passed so quickly). I would dearly love to rehome another dog or puppy. Max is fully toilet trained and is an absolute joy . What age is best for bringing another dog into the house (if any). What do we need to be aware of and look out for when we're choosing our next family member? Obviously we're aware of the financial aspects and the space issues but what should we look for from Max's point of view? We spend most of our days at the beach with other dogs and he gets along with them all very well. I understand living with another one will be very different though.
All advice very welcome xxx.

If you're looking to get another puppy I would wait until Max is older. Not knowing his personality it's hard to say how old he should be, but I would guess at least a year and a half. Two puppies is A LOT

That's a totally personal choice & has to be made with the family schedule in mind. Whenever you feel ready, I'm betting you will be ready or get ready in one heckuva hurry.

For me, personally, one puppy is plenty to deal with & I plan to add a new puppy when Ozzy is a little farther along in his obedience training so that I'll have time to start the same with the new pup.

Personaly I would get an older dog. But I would also wait until Max is a year to year and a half before getting another. That's just me, I like to work with, train, and bond with a dog about a year or so before adding another. Not that it wouldn't work for you, I don't know what your schedule is like and how much time you could devote to training each dog separately.

Thanks guys. I think we'll wait a while. I just want another dog so much and can't bear to look at the "dog rehoming pages" without taking one home (soppy mare). We do need to put Max's needs first and will wait until he's a wee bit older I think xxx.
