Default Puppy fleas

Took our sheltie puppy to the vet yesterday for her final vaccination. She had been scratching, so mentioned it to the Vet, who looked at her coat and she has FLEAS !! She put Frontline drops on her. How long will it take for the fleas to go, does anyone know please?

It takes about 24 hours for Frontline to start working, so the fleas should start leaving, today.

How do dogs get fleas in the winter?

You can have fleas, indoors, year-round, if the carpets and rugs and rooms aren't treated after a flea infestation, and viable eggs remain. You can have fleas outside, if the winter is mild enough.

Well, back to the vet today as the Frontline didn't work - not surprising really, as it turns out she DIDN'T have fleas !! She has an allergy and the vet thinks it is either my biological detergent I washed her bedding in or Neutradol Shake-and-Vac I put on the carpets occasionally !! Gave her an injection and a course of tablets.

It is good to keep them on flea prevention year round so that dose isn't going to hurt one bit. But, I do have my suspicions about a vet who doesn't know whether or not a pup has fleas. Hope they've got her sorted out & are on the right track this time.

So do I Katz - it's no joke watching a 12-week old puppy keep scratching and biting herself, plus the fact it costs a fortune just to walk into the Vet's door !! I'm feeling really fed-up.
