Default Socialising our pup

we have a lovely 5 month old cross staffie bitch who is well behaved with other dogs and only wants to play.

my boyfriends sister has a german sheppard dog who is only 18 months a big gentle giant until he see's her.

im not sure if it is a teritory thing as when there on a walk there fine but put them in the house together and he is a totaly different dog. he keeps one eye on her and if she moves he goes mad running at her . luckley he hasn't touched her yet but he is such a size (biggest gsd i've ever seen . his head is the size of maddie's body)that he would really hurt her, and he's not the most well behaved teenager at the moment either.

any ideas

Whose house, the Staffie or the GSD? GSDs are very protective and if it is his house and your dog comes in, yes, he will be a different dog than if they are outside on neutral territory. You can avoid having them together in the house until they are more used to each other from walks. And your brother has to make clear to his dog that charging your dog is not acceptable. If he sees him doing it, he should say "NO".

Is the GSD neutered or intact? If your Staffie is still intact, I imagine this behaviour is going to last for some time, although I'd expect her to eventually tell him off with a growl or some nipping as females usually do. Gator and Tilly are both neutered/spayed, but even at almost 11 and 9 respectively, they still have their arguments when he gets "goofy" on her and sniffs or paws her rear. I also agree that it is partly a territorial thing going on here.

the gsd(snarf) is still in tact. our staffie is getting spayed tomorrow so we'll see how they go. as for the house its neither of there's they usually meet at my boyfriends mam's so its not nice for them having ths going on in their house.
He has been over to our house since we got her and he barked the whole time he was there! i think he is in a major huff.

Loulee sweetie please get them both neutered or fixed now. Then work on social habits by loving them at the same time. Do not hug one, not the other, dogs see like humans and sense jealously occurring. Please be patient and give tons of hugs, love and feed them together same time of day as dogs can be creatures of habit, I keep mine of a strict schedule and I have 7 German Shepherds and I am going on 69 yrs. young, if I can do it you sure can honey.
Let them know the love u have, walk together, play together inside and outside. Let them know your rules inside and make them abide by them, I do. I let my dogs know: I am the BOSS, LEADER AND LOOK UP TO ME MY DEAR LOVING DOGS AS I CAN GET VERY ANGRY. Do alot of socialization inside and out and walk together always, love together always, feed together in seperate dishes and praise them for eating and being such good dogs. Always praise when good, when bad let them know how upset u might be, they know by our body posture when one is upset. You establish yourself as their LEADER AND BOSS once this is done they will look up to you and respect you tremendously as all mine do this old lady. If you need further help pm me or email [email protected] I would love to assist you in raising these two properly if I can you can honey.......
