He is only a baby at 25 weeks old. It takes patience to introduce the dog and the cats I have five dogs who all live hapilly with my cat. Just give the puppy tiime and eventually it will all work out. Introduce them slowly and don't leave them alone to begin with. I'd be more worried about the puppy than the cats. I love my cat to bits but cats know how to look after themselves. There is a saying cats rule dogs drool. Good luck, I am sure this will with a little patience work itself out to the benefit of both.

I agree a puppy needs alot of time, introductions slowly and patiently and just take lots of love in teaching a NO with the cats. He will soon get bored and let them alone. I have dogs adopted in good homes with cats they never seen and managed to accept, so I know if an adult can learn so can a puppy, just give it time sweetie.

Hi Harmony
Welcome to the dog forum. Spaniels do need assertive owners and lots and lots of exercise. If Jake doesn't get at least two hours a day he gets boisterous (he's an irish water spaniel).
Hope the baby gate helps but it won't be long before he can jump over it.

Have you taken your pup to any training classes? If not, this could be a good idea. Training solid foundation behaviours such as 'come', 'down' and 'stay' can solve a lot of issues around the home.
