Default Abandoned puppy

hello yesterday we rescued a chihuahua that wasn't getting fed and that used for dog fights, and the past owners used to hit him.. he was starving when we got him. he was doing good untill today when he started trying to bite my other chihuahua and my german shepherd. he shows teeth when they get next to him and he already tried snapping at them. he is doing good with us listens and doesnt bit but its just something with my other dogs that makes him want to bite. please help me out cause my other option would be to take him to a animal place that will take care of him because i cant have him trying to injure my dogs. thanks for the help

Aww bless, sounds to like this little dog is terrified that is why he is showing aggression to your other dogs, he's trying to protect himself. I can't for the life of me imagine how they would have used him in dog fights, their little jaws aren't strong enough to do much damage.

Little dogs like that are used as bait. The people who enjoy dog fights get the dogs riled up and then toss the little dogs in. This is why you should never advertise a dog as being "free to a good home". These people are good at pretending to be nice. Then they get the dog and watch it get torn apart.

Anyway, King you are a very very good sould for saving this dog. It will be a long road because dsogs do not forget and you cannot explain that everything is going to be alright now. You will need a lot of patience. This dog has to wake up every day and only have good experiences, food, a warm place to sleep and nothing and no one scaring it or acting aggressively. YOu may even want to buy that sutff they use to calm down dogs (I think it is called a DAP diffuser).

Good luck to you.

Skunkstripe is right, and I think you may need to look at ways to keep this new dog separate from your existing dogs initially. There is a good chance that he may settle down with your dogs over time, when he realises they won't hurt him, but for the time being perhaps he could be safely crated or in a different room when you are not home. When you are at home, you can help him to like your other dogs by getting him to assoiciate their presence with something good. Perhaps the new dog could be with you in a room, with the other dogs visable behind a childgate or similar arrangement. Have some extremely yummy food treats, and feed your new dog every time he looks towards you instead of barking or growling at the other dogs.

thanks a lot i know that its going to be a long road but i am willing to do it so that he can have a better life than he had before. thanks for all the advice. i will keep you guys updated to tell you about the progress that he is making. so far he does good on the walks but everytime my other dogs get near he will start showing teeth and growling. so i just keep him with me and have my dogs laying down so he sees that they mean no harm. thanks again for all the advice
