Default New member - help needed

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help - we have a 4 month old German Shepherd. We have had him nearly 2 momnths and after some initial problems with eating he has settled in well with us. He has just began loosing his teeth and this hasn't affected him at all, up untill last night when he lost his first "fang", he now won't eat again - is this normal as we have never had a puppy before?

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum from me and my Gang. Your poor little one is teething, I should think and his little mouth will be sore, so he is probably frightened to eat incase it hurts. I would not worry too much as puppies won't starve I should think he will eat when he is hungry. Is there one thing he particularly likes? You could try tempting him with that. Perhaps someone will be along soon who can give you better advice. Good luck and enjoy your puppy and some pics would be nice.

Welcome to Dogforum.org.

Loosing teeth at this age is normal watch that he eats. Most pups will eat once they get hungry enough, if he doesn't you could try to add some canned food to his normal food to entice him.

If you feed him dry food, perhaps soak it with a bit of water before feeding for a few days while his mouth is sore.

Thank you for the advise - he has indeed started eating again. We have found 4 of his teeth in total. He is a very fussy eater - he won't eat timed food - he won't eat biscuit that is soaked, he only eats fresh minced tripe that is cooked with his biscuit - but we love him !!!

I will gladly put on some photos if I new how???
