Default Should I get a puppy

I have a 2 year old Staff who delivered 6 pups 6 days ago which will all go to good homes around 8 weeks of age but my friend rescued a dogue de bordeaux and her pups a few weeks ago but now needs to give the pups away asap, would my dog be ok letting another pup in our home whilst she still has her pups???

If I had a bitch who had just delivered I wouldn't bring in any outside dogs due to the risk of infection of various puppy killing illnesses. Even if the puppy doesn't appear sick, it could still bring a small enough amount of parvo for example to get to the pups.

Besides that I don't know how the bitch would react to having an older pup around.

Louuie, great reply. I would not bring in a new pup either.

And apart from viruses etc being bought in by any other dog(s) or pups the mother might ( and rightly so) guard her pups so fights could ensue. I would get your friend and possibly your self to consider having both bitches (dam) speyed! Too many unwanted pups/dogs end up in shelters because some new owners don't put the effort in to training them or they just sadly lose interest and the poor animal suffers. Please advise your friend that all pups will require a vet health check and vaccinations/worm them too ATB

I think this would be my call too, first protect your own litter.

Oh, and you aren't doing a responsible job of 'rescuing' any dog if you weren't equipped to meet it's needs, physically, mentally, financially. Why take on a dog with a litter, or a pregnant dog, if you aren't in a position to care for the pups?
