Default Should I take her to the show? Yay or Nay?

My female started her heat last Sunday. She's stopped dripping a bit this week and seems to be swelling down. There's a show that I planned to take her to and show her at nextweekend and with her just coming out of heat, I really don't know if I should take her or not. What would you reccommend or say?

I would say no... the next two weeks will be the highest point in her heat and therefor highly annoying to the male dogs... do they even allow that here?

They don't allow dogs in heat there, but it seems like she's begining to come out of heat. I guess there's no way to be sure that she'll be out by nextweek, until nextweek comes.

No, I don't think you should take her. She isn't coming out of heat. She is now truly IN heat. The dripping is part of proestrus. It is when the swelling subsides that she is moving out of proestrus and into estrus - when she is most receptive to males and most fertile. This period may last for a couple of weeks or more, before she moves out of her fertile period and into diestrus. She's moving into the middle of her heat, not out of it.

She is at her most receptive, now, but will remain receptive for a couple of weeks (on average - every bitch is a little different). I think she will still disturb the dogs around her, next week.

In season bitches are allowed to show in conformation. They are not allowed in most venues. In some venues (for instance stock/herding) they are allowed to run last. It's definitely extra responsiblity and extra hassle to have an in-season female at any event.

If the show venue says no dogs in heat, then do not go. Nothing is more annoying or unfair to other dog handlers than having to deal with their males reacting to a dog in heat that isn't even supposed to be there. And you will get a bad rep by the other competitors.

So if the venue says no dogs in heat, you'll have to stay home. You'll be able to go next time.

Definitely not!! It would be highly unfair IMO to both your lovely girl and the entire males at the show. Your girl would be gagging for sex, and would be calling, displaying and enticing the males, and they would be going ballistic trying to oblige!

She's a gorgeous girl BTW, looking at your avatar!
