Default She's teasing me...

The last couple if weeks Isis has being doing something very annoying. She asks to go outside so we let her out. A few minutes later she'll bark at the door to be let in but when we open the door, she runs away. She'll do this like five times before she finally comes in. We have tried bribing her to come in by offering treats but that's probably not the best way to do it. When she finally does come in, she sometimes wants back out less than 10 minutes later. I know this is probably a game to her but it's not one we enjoy playing...

Any ideas?

Hi kittiei I think what's happening here is you are showing her attention she goes to door you follow open door and she goes outside you close the door she barks to be let in so It's a game! A bit like a puppy when you settle the pup down at night ( bed time) they whine to get attention in this case you ignore the whines and I would also suggest for your problem to do the same totaly ignore her and eventually she will see you are running to her beck and call. Be patient it won't happen over night either. Good luck and let us know how you get on! ATB

oooh this is a tough game to ignore, cause ( i am assuming she is a puppy ) you don't want to ignore it and have her actually need to go outside.

you may need to create a potty schedule, or something so that she goes out on your time.

Good luck!

Yes she just turned 6 months. She was spayed on Monday and is doing great. I think we can handle the barking to go out so often, it's when she barks to come in and then runs away when we go to let her in. I try to ignore her a bit but I don't think my neighbors would appreciate it if I just left her to bark for a bit...

Also a potty schedule is good you let her out go with her and tell her nicely go pee pee or poops when she has done either or both you treat and most definately praise, praise and praise always praise When she gets it right! eventauly you wean the treats off once she has learnt but never stop the praise Good luck let us know how you get on! If I could think like a puppie for a minute, I'd say she's begging you to come outside to play with her.

She asks to go out which is excellent. Once outside she's lonely and wants you to come out to play with her by running away from the door....she's telling you she doesn't want to come back in again, she wants YOU outside with her!!

Peoples aren't the only ones who invent games to play!

Oh I'm sure she's running away hoping we'll follow and play with her. We do go out and play with her sometimes (not usually when she plays this game but just in general) but this sometimes happens when we're getting ready for bed and she's going out for her last potty break of the night...or at 3 am when she decides to wake us up to go pee and then she plays this game because she's not tired anymore.

She's very good at going outside for bathroom breaks. She hasn't had an accident inside for months.

I think to keep the game in Check, Take her out at night before bed on a leash, let her go potty and then bring her in.

Does she play Fetch? maybe if she starts trying to play "chase me" throw a ball and turn it into, "come to the person to get the ball thrown again"
it may work..

My pup is also 6months old..(or turning soon) I work on her Recall the most. every time she comes to me when I call she gets treat or praise, or play. So now its one of her favorite things to do.
