Cool Peeing after a spay

Hello everyone. My 6mnth old puppy is now 98% housebroken FINALLY- However, she got spayed on Friday and pped 3 times in the house on the following Monday right in front of me without asking at all. Anyone have a similar situation? Also sometimes pees when playing with my cat who hates her and hisses and swats at her (even thou, Maui, my dog, thinks its a game) but I think that's just a submissive thing? I have not let her alone in the house when I am gone without being crated as I don't trust her- should I start? Any thoughts?

I'm sorry to hear about that!
What you're describiing is not uncommon at all. It's called "spay incontinence" and according to this article, happens to 1 in 5 females after spaying.

Aside from making sure that she does not have a UTI I think all you can do is wait until her hormones stabilize and keep her as clean as you can. Remember it is not her fault so try to be as matter-of-fact about it as you can so it doesn't develop into submissive peeing or worse.

Thanks for the article. I read it and she is VOLUNTARILY peeing right in front of me and knows that its wrong. Its not dripping or when she is sleeping. She is alert and walking around. I don't get it? Its super frustrating!!!

From what I understand, this isn't uncommon after a spay and things usually settle down within a few days. She isn't straining to pee or s experiencing excessive urination, correct?
