Default Omg I got a chihuahua not a poodle!

Hey all!

As you all know i was looking for a toy poodle! Today my stepmom and dad came knocking at my door and what do i see! A Chihuahua!!! They got me this cute little girl.. i was thinking my allergies will bother me but its not. I was never going to buy one. But she is a gift from god. So tiny, so cute and A GIRL!!! Wow. Im shocked. I was going to get a dog but oh so soon. Im really thankful. She on my lap right now sleeping. she is 1 month old. I dont have a cage for her nothing. the stores are all closed. But thank god the woman that sold her to my step mom and dad gave food. I also have gotten bowls and toys since i was collecting for my poodle. I guess no poodle for now The lady thats sold this cutie (PRINCESS) thats what i called her. She breeds chiis! so no pet shop princess was the only girl and 4 boys. The boys are all gone just her is left. There is NO shot that has been done. I need to call the vet tomorrow. when can she has her first shot? princess is tooooo tiny. when i take her to the vet for her shot can i take her out to pee pee. Or should i train her on pee pee pads? for my poodle that i was going to get iw as going to teach her to go out and no pee pee pads. but this girl is soo tiny. tomorrow going shopping for cage, more toys etc..

please verify her age... a four week old would just be learning to lap and you will need to bottle feed

Congratulations on the new "baby"

IMHO crate train her or keep her in a confined area .... Pee pads work well if you want to have her use them for good or are going to attempt litter training...

i honestly dont know but my step mom said she is 1 month. tomorrow i will call that lady and ask her. she does eat dog kibble on her own. (preima) She is very energetic and playful. She did peep on the carpet and floor. she also try to poop but i took her on the newspapers. tomorrow i will go get pee pee pads and all the stuff. I want to train her outside, but she is soooo tiny and she has not gotten any shots yet. if i train her on the pee pee pad can i change her to go outside too later on?

If she is indeed 4 weeks old she is far too young to be away from her mother/littermates. They learn appropriate behavior (like bite inhibition, dog socialization, etc) from the mother/littermates until they are at least 8 weeks old. They don't really start eating dry food until 6 weeks normally.

Vaccinations, the best place for advice is your vet. I think you have to wait until 6 - 7 weeks for the first distemper/parvo shot. A booster is required a few weeks later. And here it is about 12 - 14 weeks of age that they give the rabies shot.

Wow it's bit young and if the lady your step mom and dad went to pick the dog up says yes the pup is only 1 month she should be reported it's ok saying the place is clean etc. You just don't let pups go till around 8 weeks! Ok Nipper was 7 weeks old but that's not the same as 1 month old Also your step mom and dad should have phoned you first and then you could have said Ok I will come and see the pups and take it from there. The breeder must be told not to let her dogs go to new homes till around 8 weeks old. it's irresponsible.

Now Pee pads Don't get them as they can slow the house training process down some what instead look for the signs circling around and sniffing the ground ick the pup up and take out doors in your yard garden and praise her loads never tell her off if she gets it wrong and pees in the house just make sure you clean it throughly with a enzyme cleaner. Don't take her for walks till she has had her second vaccinations too many dieseses out there Crate training not always neccessary i would get a nice soft bed for her and get a old 'T' shirt rub your body over the 'T' shirt and put that on top of the bedding
along with a ticking watch or small clock put this under the bedding and this will reasure the pup and make the pup feel it's till with it's mum remove after 2 - 3 months! It does work and raised my Nipper on it Good luck and sorry for the rant but I had to say it. Please keep us posted on her progress

Im so shocked. I was saving for a toy poodle. Im also shocked that princess dont bother my allgergies that much. But that is not important for her healthy and saftey is. I'm so glad i joined this forum, you all help me so much. Can i still take my pup out on thr front grass No walks? Im going soon when the stores open to get her a coat or sweeter with a harnesh on leash on it. I had put her newspapers and she is really catching up so fast. she did make a few poop mistakes. from what my step mom said the lady told her bday was july 7, 2010. but my step mom dont know english well so i will call her the lady and ask her myself. everything went by so fast. I was shocked and still am. my dad and step mom should of called me. They knew i wanted poodle. anyhow im happy with princess is just im worried about her now. She slept with me all night such warm ears. i fed her 7am in the morning. Is that good or should i feed her 6am? how times a day should i feed her 3 or 4? the lady feeds her prima im not sure if that is good kibble food. Thank you all for caring and dont worry about the rant all you doing is heping and giving me tips Og and she has not gotten any shots yet. im calling the vet when it opens and ask them EVERYTHING!! If i have to bring her to the vet for dewarm or first shot i will! poor thing, mommas here! I dont know how people can breed and give a tiny baby like this. I hope she will be ok!

If the pup is really only one month old it needs to go back to its mother immediately. If for some reason the mother is not able to care for the puppy, please bring the puppy to the vet ASAP. Don't waste your money on leash and harness. The puppy is missing out on being fed by its mother and also learning proper dog manners from its littermates. If someone seriously sold a puppy at that age they should be reported to the police. It's illegal and for good reason.

I don't like being a wet blanket, but the sad fact is that puppies who are taken away from their mothers too young often grow up to be dogs with health and temperament problems. You may not even be able to get shots for this dog it is so young.

Please don't take it outside, it could get parvo and get very sick and die. Whatever you do, please get this poor puppy to the vet as soon as you possibly can.
