Default Puppy growth . . . . .

Hi,
Just wanting to know if any other amstaff owners out there that have had Females from pup to adult,

Im just alittle worried, that lyla is well not growing, she has been the same size now for the past mth to 2mths

tyson my other amstaff is roughly 17-18 inches tall (if i did it right)
and lyla is well small, and is now going on 6mths old and still looks like she 4mths old

are the females generaly slow growers ?

thanks

Hi Was lyla a runt of the litter? My Staffy bitch is quite small compared with her other litter mates, Maybe lyla couldn't get enough milk at the time! What weight is she now?

Nipper is 16 months old and weighs in at just over 15 kg So I am not worried Could you look at the weight chart at the vets for guidance?

like i know amstaffs u can get small ones, but she is tiny haha almost like aye
mini-amstaff hahahaha hmmm new breed :P

I don't know anything about the breed, but when Sooty 1/4 of each staffy, pit, collie & shephard, was a pup we could see her growing every other day. Her adult weight is 30-31 kg.

I don't know about her weight, have you been to the vets yet and what did they say? But about breeding yes I would say that breeding is out of the question if she is small for her breed, just because of it being a extreme and I wouldn't throw the sentence mini am-staff around either, as that could get the wrong people intrested, also is there any reason for the breeding?

She may just be a slow developer, I dont know about staffies but Mabel our puppy schnauzer was really small and scrappy until about 6 and a half months and the last 6 weeks have seen a real growth spurt and shes at the standard size and weight now for her age

I do know in what I breed the females are to be smaller than the males. Often a dog will take a growing spurt and then one must back off feeding puppy food, switch to adult as I have on my new imports. Gosh, they were growing tooo fast. I would be happy she is going slow, it is more healthy often times. Keep her wormed, and I would not be so concerned at this point being a female, she may not get as large as the male and that is the way it should be in all breeds.

i'd rather a pup grow on slowly. which is probably what shes doing, than have growth spurts and get too leggy

Its surprising how they grow on between 5 and 6 months
