Default Sheltie pup question

Got a question for all the sheltie owners/breeders out there. I have seen lots and lots of pics of the puppies, and for the most part the coats look kinda like cotton. About what age is it that they get the long beautiful, elegant coat? Or was I looking at pics of a shorter haired breed? Thanks!

I agree, some pictures would be great. I only know Shelties from the show ring. We used to hate them. LOL. The reason we "hated" them was because we were Herding Group too, and our Bouvs were more challenging to get into the right show coat, whereas we'd see a parade of beautiful little Shelties (lots less than a year old) strutting around the ring in full gorgeous coats looking all put together regardless of how young they were. I'd say after 6 months, you should be seeing that same thing, generally.

Sometimes in roughs it can be 4 yrs before a male gets the lovely elegant coat. It does depend alot on what lines the dog is from

Shelties usually get their full coats in around 2 years old. They will "blow out" their coats at about one year of age and between the ages of 1 and 2 their full coats will come in.

Those are sheltie puppies! They do change quite a bit in their first year.
