Default More cage/sleeping questions

you prob saw my other post about cage/sleeping aragnment problems im having w/ our puppy so i have another question. we had decided to lock her up in the cage at nite and close the door to the room the cage is in during the day and leave her cage open to have roam of the room, well we are thinking about leaving the day arrangments where she has roam of the room her cage is in during the day an letting her sleep in our room w/no cage just her dog bed(she also like sleepin under the bed but wont fit there much longer) so is this a bad arrangment. is she goin to get confused about where to sleep or will she understand that during the day she goes in her room but at nite she goes in ours?

She won't get confused......dogs sleep where ever...they just wanna be by you....if your downstairs they'll sleep there....if you go upstairs...that's where they'll sleep too..to bad our bed is upstairs too!!!! Their not picky.. This was the same situation we had when mine was little. We kepted him in the kitchen with a board across the door when we left the house so he wouldn't be able escape. Worked until he got old enough to be house broken (around 3-4 month old). The only chewing he ever really did was paper products: newspaper, toilet paper, trash can that didn't have a lid on. We still have to remove anything laying around that is in his reach that is made of paper! He's gotten to the point where he just sleeps if no one is home with him but he still has free roam of the house! We ours was little I used stuff called Bitter Apple spray. Just spray on the things that you dont want your dog to put his mouth on. You can get this in any pet supply store...cheap too....works like a charm!!

Place the crate next to your bed, long as the pet knows your nearby they are content to adjust and sleep, give it time. Be patient and let the pet get plenty of daily exercise so it will sleep at night. Dogs do need daily romps, plays, and love, so take an hour at least and entertain the dog and it will sleep wherever. They do adjust better being near the one it bonds to. Good Luck and welcome to the dog forum.

well we had the crate in our roon for a while but we wanted to move it to the spare bedroom, thats where this problem came from. i think we will try this arrangment out . it seems to work good now. when we leave for the day she doesnt cry when we lock her in her room, and she doesnt pee in the room either

I think your idea sounds fine, I don't think she will be confused by sleeping without the cage at night.
