Default Dry at Night?

Hi

We've a 10 month old Pup who had a great routine of going in the morning and evening (poop!) and then we'd have the occassional wee on the kitchen floor after our nights sleep.

Recently however she's started peeing every night (even though we take her out for one before bed) and also a poop. We really thought we'd cracked it but now feel like we're back at square one!

I was wondering if anyone else had had the same problem and may be able to advise?

Thanks in advance...

Rob

Sorry to hear that! There could be a number of causes...

If she is in heat or if she has a UTI for example this might be the reason.

She might not be fully housetrained and is regressing, not understanding that she is not supposed to go indoors. Morning and evening might not be quite enough, I'd give her another opportunity at midday. It's possible that she is an early riser and wakes up at the crack of dawn and needs to go, but no one is there to take her out.

I'd get a urinalysis done at the vet and rule out any medical causes. If she comes up clear then I'd make a point of reinforcing the potty training by rewarding her profusely for a job well done outdoors. Also I would limit water intake after 7 PM.

Thank for the input.

She's just come through her first season so you could have something there.

We do take her out through the day too, she goes for 3 walks and always has access to the garden!

Cheers
