Question When do Springers get their spots?

I have a 9 week springer and was wondering if she'll get more spots? she's got quite a few on her muzzle but hardly any on her legs!
Cheers Dee.

Welcome to the forum!

They will darken and show a little more as she gets older. You can tell where they'll be by looking at her skin, the pigmentation often appears on the skin before the fur.

If she doesn't have a lot showing, she probably won't get lots of spots. Not all springers carry the speckles. My old springer had brilliant speckles, but the others i've met don't all have them. Did her parents carry speckles?

My cocker spaniel has got darker as she's got older, and her black hair has grown long and covered up most of the white. You can see her speckles more when she has been clipped in the summer.

Have you got any pictures of your puppy? I absolutely adore Springers, I plan on getting one when i have time for another dog. My springer died 6 years ago now, but he was a brilliant dog while I had him. Here he is, looking all speckly!

Yes part the hair and look at the skin, they will appear slowly as she sheds the puppy growth. They are really nice well tempered dogs, my neice had one and it was a lovely pet. with the adult coat coming in she will darken her coat and spots and be beautiful.

I don't think there's a specific age, but they will grow in! I dogsit a springer, and she has freckles on her nose and legs, but none anywhere else. Some Springers don't have a lot of speckles and are more patchy. Any pics? I love Springers

Hiya and welcome to the forum glad you found us. Your puppy is a little sweety. Ihave a springer and a sprocker. There marking apeared at different times. Freckel the sprocker had this markings on his leg nose and one big spot at the tot of his tail now he is flecked all over. Jess my springer had her large patches but the smaller spots came later except the ones on her nose and legs they were already there. Hope you enjoy it here.

Oh my gosh she is so adorable! She's going to be a stunner when she's grown up.
