Default Can he hold it yet?

I am wondering if a 7 month old puppy is able to hold himself for a 7 hour period?
I have to walk home at lunch to let Moko out currently, and sometimes it is a tight squeeze to make it in for class!
Can he hold it in yet? Or do I still have to wait another couple months?

I'd wait if he has run of the house. Myka can make it for 9 hours, almost 7 months, at night but I think it would be a push to be active in the house and not have to pee. I thought there was a calculation on the forum of number of months/ hours they should be able to hold it. Longest I've had the guts to leave Myka free in the house is 4 hours. I bet I could go longer but he's still just a kid.

The rule of thumb is age in months plus one is the number of hours they can hold it. But that is only a very rough guess so you have some idea. Each dog is different and also things change from one day to the next.

I think at 7 months expecting Moko to hold it 7 hrs every day might be a little much. In a few months though if Moko is trained then you shouldn't have any problem.

We have a 7 month old Fow Wire Terrier called Maizy, I've been stressing about her not holding it in at night and having to clean after her each morning (well not every morning but most - even though I do take her out for both before we go to bed) but having read this I'll give her another couple of months before I get stressed again.

She is fine through the day, but is never really left alone in the house for more than a few hours.

When Sooty was 10 weeks old I left her locked in "April's" room for 7 hrs while I went to a Christmas dinner. I walked in tentatively thinking I would walk in a puddle, but the floor was dry. That was exceptional but nothing I would rely on. Tilba will hold on if left in her crate, but some mornings I still find a puddle on the floor near the back door & she's 10 mths old.
