Default Overwalking a puppy...?

Hello, we have a 4 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We take him for a 15/20 min walk in the morning, then our dog walker takes him out for approx 1hr at lunchtime, than he goes for a 15/20 min walk in the evenings. I'm just wondering if this is too much as he is still so young? I've heard you can damage their hips you over walk them!

It sounds like quite a lot to me. Mine is 12 weeks and we go out for over half an hour a day but he doesn't actually walk for all of it. He sits a lot, sniffs, listens, chases leaves etc. Is your cav walking for all of this, or does it include playtime? Oscar's "walk" is mostly sniffing around a park.

It does seem like a bit too much for such a young dog. I've read you are supposed to do 5 minutes per month of a dogs age a day...so about 20 minutes a day split up into two walks would be best.

For such a young puppy and a small breed you are definitely over exercising him, you could be doing a lot damage to his hips, have a word with your breeder or your vet for some advise before any permanent damage is done.

Also him should not be running up and down stairs or doing any jumping that can damage him as well.

I would only give him ONE 15/20 min walk per day. It's definitely too much for any breed of puppy that age. And a cav would need less. Don't forget they exercise themselves while they play.
