From my experience, my little sheltie pup used to sleep alot when she was younger. We got her at 7wks. so she slept A LOT!!!! I was always wantin' to play with her but she always wanted to sleep...and then when I didnt fell like playing, she wanted to play so it goes both ways But yes, now she is a little over 2 months, and still takes naps. When she was younger, I didn't want her to sleep, but now, I wish she would take more naps...lol

I love my Basil!!!!!!

Hiya Pauline46
the pup will sleep lots and lots, my pups are 6 months now, they still sleep lots, it depends on how much you play, how long your walks are and so on, my 2 russells just collaps on the floor when we come home from a walk/play its great cos thats when i groom them, i love it....

Yes pups do sleep alot , they usually wake up have a pee, eat, have a poo, play for a while and then sleep and start all over again LOL.
BTW pups need to sleep as much as possible and and should never be woken up to play with them.

My pups sleep some but play more than sleeping as they are of half working lines from Germany. They love to run and play freely then a long nap, eat and get up to play again. They sleep all night as I kennel them for safety reasons. They are loose all day on five acreas fenced in with the adults, so they get plenty of exercise. They are fed 3 times a day, sleep in new garage that is open in nice weather on the tile floor. So, it depends alot on the breed also. I hope your puppy is doing better for you Pauline. They can be alot of work until they are out of the puppy stage.

Thanks for sharing your stories with me. I think Cody is coming into some kind of routine. I let him play outside quite a bit. He goes out there and plays with his toys and sticks he finds.

My older sheltie goes outside with him and just kind of keeps an eye on him. I watch from the window here at my computer and go out and play occassionally with them.

We go for 2 walks a day and Cody does have a few naps in between. I am just trying to keep him busy to use up that energy. I'm not in good shape to run with him all the time but I do try to play stick with him a few times a day.
