Question Worming?

Hi all not been on for a while due to kids being off school and wotnot been really busy, just wondering how often a puppy should be wormed? Jack Jack is now just over 5 months old and was last wormed 7 weeks ago, should he be wormed again soon? I do my cats every 3 months and am gonna phone the vet in the morning and ask him but was just curious what u guys thought?

Oh he passed puppy school with flying colours and is now attending fun agility classes on a Sunday morning as he LOVED the little agility course that the trainer set up

Thanks in advance guys as always

Tracy n Jack Jack xx

How cute the av is you have honey. I worm my pups when born after two weeks every 2 weeks as we put them out on grass for exercise, sun, etc. Larvae is in the ground I am sure from GOD knows what passes through at nightime.?

I would wait a bit and maybe have a sample run in to the vet for scope check on just what worm if any he might have. That way you get the proper meds for such as Whip worm a stinker, hook worms, etc.

Well done Jack Jack for passing puppy school!!!!

I thought you had to worm quite regularly while they were puppies. I could be wrong! Hopefully someone else can help.

What I've always been told by vets & read is that a puppy is wormed every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old. Then once a month until 6 mths, then every 3 mths.

Very interesting... I was about to ask the same question. So for juvenile to senior every 3 months is recommended? Ted is doing the very interested in rear end activity, not dragging it everywhere as some do....

just a note...'dragging' can also mean that the anal glands need emptying

Also, having long haired dogs it can also be a dirty bottom.

Congratulations on passing puppy class, well done you and Jack-Jack.

Just one thing, he shouldn't really be doing agility at 5 months old, it can cause damage to the forming skeletal structure and muscles. His bones are still soft and the impact of agility can mean that he'll be more likely to end up with arthritis when he's older. No dog should be really be doing any kind of agility until at least 18 months old.

Obviously I don't know what extent you're taking part, the low impact stuff would be ok, but you don't want to be encouraging too much jumping etc yet.

Hi thanks for the replies.....vet said every month til 6 months then every 3 so thats what I've been doing, he wasn't dragging or anything like that it was me being curious as to how often it should be done, and his anal glands get done when he's at the groomers every 4 weeks or as needed, she does his claws n all that too as I'm scared I would clip too far in and hurt him wouldnt want to do that.

Melamaphine: he's only doing little jumps like an inch off the ground its more for socialisation that he goes as a few of the pups in our class attend....he loooves the tunnel tho lol
