Default Only 2 puppies in Puppy Socialisation Class?

I am taking Mixu, my 14 week old Jack Russell to his first Puppy Socialisation Class on Wednesday. It had been postponed for a fortnight as there was only 2 puppies booked in- Mixu and Lacey(my daughter's JR who is also Mixu's sister) and the vet thought a class of only 2 puppies that already knew each other was inappropiate.
It now seems as there will still be only Mixu and Lacey at the class on Wed. Will it be a waste of time?

If you know how to train & care for a new puppy I feel it would be a waste of time as the main reason to go to puppy pre school is to socialise your puppies with other dogs & people. If you know nothing then the vet would usually tell you what would be needed to look after a new puppy re: vaccinations, care & feeding during your vet visits.

one pup is better than no pup in my opinion... take the opurtinity to train sit and contact since it's low disturbance level to get a good base now..

oh and take pictures for us

I phoned the vet this morning and it seems that the secretary made a mistake and thought the two dogs had one owner. Naming them in the appointment letter was to ensure that if we had more dogs, they would not be brought. There will be another 4 puppies at the class and I am now looking forward to it.

I will keep you informed about Mixu's progress.
Thanks for all the helpful advise.

I have now been to the two puppy socialisation classes and they went brilliantly.

There were 6 puppies and the tutor was marvellous. He believes in treating good behavour and no physical punishment for bad behavour.

He showed us how to get our puppies to sit, stand, lie down, sit and stay , and sit, stay and come, all in two hours.

Although I cannot get Mixu to lie down, he has reassured me that puppies are like babies and all got their different development levels, and not to worry as it'll come through perseverence.

I have his phone no. if I have huge problems in the future.

I am more confident now in training Mixu. I am so happy that I registered Mixu with that vet, which is one of the dearest in my area, but the 2 hourly free sessions were well worth the extras for vaccinations.(Further medical other than vaccinations costs will not be noticed as Mixu is insured)

Glad to hear you were happy with the puppy class. Have you continued with more advanced classes?

Unforunately I have not.

Those classes were at my local vets. I am disabled and couldn't walk there and had to rely on taxis at £5 each way.

The advanced classes that I can find, are more remote and will cost me more that £25 each way to attend, which is out of my price range.

However, I feel that the trainer has given me excellent advice and as long as I can get Mixu to sit, stay and come etc , we can have a happy partnership.
