Why? Why? Why?

I have spent all my time with this pup, training him, feeding him, meeting all his needs and I go out and my hubby says. This dog is a real licker............NEWS TO ME!!!! He doesn't lick me much at all. Hubby says the dog sees him as the alpha! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrr............... I wanted this dog to see me as the alpha.

How do you get respect around here!????  :angrysmiley:

I don't even sleep on my own bed most nights.

you may not be the alpha but you should be the beta and doggy should be omega and respect you and give you kisses. (have you tried smearing yourself in peanut butter)!!!!!

Maddi isn't much of a licker either (she'll give kisses to others more than me). I've always chalked it up to something as simple as I don't taste as good ;)

Becky is right, could be as simple as you using a handcreme or moisturiser or prefumed shower gel that has a taste / scent etc. Also sometimes men sweat more and dogs often enjoy the salty taste on skin.

I would count yourself lucky, we spend our lives trying to avoid being licked to death by our dogs, who have usually just eaten some fresh horse poo or licked their bum prior to feeling an overwhelming need to demonstrate their affection. The poor cat feels the same way as those enormous tongues come enthusiastically towards him and his entire head ends up soggy!

My doggie doesn't kiss me either...

I know what you mean! It is just Buster and me. I know he loves me. But he'll kiss anyone on the face (kids, strangers, mother, brother) but he doesn't kiss me on the face! He'll lick my hand, but no real kisses! I've tried the peanut butter schmere and he'll take food from my mouth. So, is it an alpha/beta thing or what?

heh heh heh :rolleyessmileyanim: :D ............okay, I'll calm down........:sleepsmiley02:

Boy I wish I knew........I googled it and it said it could be because he wants the people he licks to accept him. Maybe because they are new to him, he is licking them they way we Kiss.........butt.

Hi Pauline46, your husband could be right, but i think it is because he knows you love him, and wants your husband to feel the same as you do!, go and get yourself a copy of "The Dog Listener" By Jan Fennell, her method of training is brilliant, and your pooch will adore you!!:o :p
