Question Timid Puppy questions?

I have a litter of Lab puppies and they are now six weeks old and i treat them all the same but there personalities are all diffrent but one puppy is just confusing me a bit.
The largest of the litter seems to be very timid, if there is a loud noise he runs for cover, if I try to pet him he will let me but when my hand goes over his pet he seems to get uncomfortable and walks away, when I call the pups all come tails wagging jumping to be picked up but he doesn't seem to have interest.
What can i do to make him less timid?what could have brought this out in him?
If i hold him he is stiff and lyes still, if i talk to him in a soothing voice he will wag his tail a bit but it takes a while to build trust.
Why would the largest out of the litter show such behaviours?
Thankyou

Well, seeing as no one else has responded, I can give my 2 cents. Do not shelter them from loud noises- if you are doing dishes and the pots n pans are bangin' and chiming, then dont stop! Keep it up, heck make it louder. Don't direct any noises like that at them, though, but dont shelter it from them as you want them to get used to it and know that it doesn't mean something bad is happening, and dont try to praise them for being scared- it just feeds the troll of the timidness.

I dont know why he would be any different than the others, but try not to treat him any different with any extra attention just because you are noticing this.

He may sence I feel sorry for him and will soemtimes coax him out of his hiding place and cuddle him, I am guilty of that.
With Abby shedding at the moment I vacuum my rug daily and the noise still scares him.
thankyou for the advice, I will try not to baby him further

I hope your done breeding if you do not know how to handle the timid one. Usually that is the one nobody wants as it could get nastey bred into him being this way.

Since your dam has no papers, u have no idea what kind of lines she has or you bred into this litter. Best you call it a day and learn from others that do not get these problems of timidness...????

I do not know how to handle the timid pup so I ask others that are more informed and may have had problems to give me advice.
So all papered dogs never have puppies that are timid, interesting fact.
And his owners are aware of his timidness but do not mind it, he was not the last one sold either

I wouldn't mind a timid pup myself. I have had many in my past, and they make for very intelligent and attentive pets.

Just because a dog has no papers does'nt mean you don't know there lineage. She could have been bred by a family friend ect..

plus just because people don't know everything about breeding does'nt mean they should'nt breed.

I not saying breeding from unregistered unknown lineage, and not knowing anything about breeding is the right thing to do, just think it a little harsh to jump on people, and then not give advice to help them learn

Having a timid puppy is not the end of the world. I got my boys at 9 weeks and Jack who was the runt of the litter was timid from the start even then. I have exposed him to all sorts of noises and people when we are out and about. He is still timid at 6 years old and does not like alot of people, but as long as my boy is happy in his home life thats ok with me.

Is this your first time breeding ? The puppies all look gorgeous, I just want to hug them all LOL.

A timid pup at this age is very easy to deal with. He will just need extra socialization once he is in his new home, and must not be babied if they want him to 'suck it up' sorta speak, Lol. He will be eager to please his owners as he will be less independent, and will make a perfect pet. Melissa- are you ensuring that those who buy yours dogs are getting then spay/neutered? Or are they allowed to do what they wish?

Yes i do not know the whole lineage that is true, but I know the sire and dam and there parents, I understand that is only 2 generations but none of the dogs were timid, were great looking and had typical lab personalities.
It was you shep that told me it was ok to ask questions and that when you are breeidng dogs you are constanly learning, you even told me yourself you still learn new things and you have been breeding for years.
You wanr me against posting puppy questions because i would get flammed by others but it seems you are the only on flaming
