Default Puppy attacking ankles

Dobby is doing really well with the housetraining and being left alone now. Thanks guys for the tips. But now she's biting our pant legs and ankles whenever we walk somewhere. We've tried substituting chew toys and praising her and remaining calm, but she still tries to eat our pant legs! Any tips?

It sounds like she is trying to play a game of "chase" with your feet there. I think if you have some play sessions where she can go after a ball this will help get it out of her system. Otherwise, you can try simply standing still like a statue so the fun goes out of it for her (I am assuming that it's only fun for her if your feet are moving), get her to "sit" and then praise her.

*giggles* Roxy my eldest still does it when she gets hyper

I tell her LEAVE!!!!! stand still and she stops.

I'll never forget when she did it at dog training, I called her in and she came bounding over all excited and went straight for my trouser leg! The trainer bellowed 'get that dog under control '

Honey I just made a thread on pups doing this biting, pulling pants, etc. They think its a big joke to grab my pants and pull putting hole in them, tearing them and hurts my ankels and legs also. Many trainers have different methods of stopping this, but my thought is ahead down the road if left go now, it gets worse and can be more agressive. This is when to stop this now as a puppy socializing well and to teach the word: NO BITE!!! Give a loud squeel when it does this just as in a litter puppy A bites playing with puppy B. it bites and pup B yelps, it stops n goes to something else. If this in some little time does not stop then u go to holding the mouth closed or I pinch lightly it nose and say the command your going to use over n over to STOP BITING NOW!!! I have sat n watched my moms help wean pups or not wanting to be bothered at the moment, she cups her mouth over its nose and mumbles dog talk, puppy walks off. I do the same only I cannot mumble dog talk, so I use my command. Never had a pup procede with this very long, with toys, play and exercie normally for puppies, they are raised the correct way to great people and enjoy company of them and children that come here. The Best to You and Good Luck. Hope this helps u as the thread I made does also?

I'd try the ignore method & if that doesn't work, turn away from the pup (leave the room if you have to). The pup will soon learn that it gets left alone when it does that. If the puppy still persists, I'd correct with "NO" or "Ahh Ahh" and give the puppy an appropriate chew toy (and praise when chewing it).
