Default There's a new pup in town.....

Yes it's true! We got ourselves another pup.

For the longest time I felt another dog would complete our family. Our sable headed white collie will be a year in November. She just loves other dogs and I was always feeling so bad for her that she didn't have a playmate. Besides the fact that I have lupus and I am not up to playing with her 24 hours a day. That always made me feel guilty! I do walk her most days and she does get attention but she still looked a bit bored.

Well my husband and I just got back from a business trip to Newfoundland and our breeder took our dog for the week. When we went to pick her up our breeder offered us this surprise. She offered to give us a pup that had a heart murmur if we wanted him. Well it appears with every visit his murmur is improving but they just can't guarantee him by selling him.

He is the nicest boy. He is a blue Merle with white. He is so calm and good. So far so good. This will be a learning curve.

Does anybody have any advice for me? I now have a girl and a boy. Already the 4 month old has tried to mount her in play.........yikes!!!

Anyway Pictures will be coming up shortly. His name was scribbler, but I have a hard time saying that so I am thinking of the name Toby. Toby is cute, and gentle.

Hey Pauline I am so happy for you! That is great news! Having two dogs can be a blast! And how kind of you to take a doggy with a heart murmur.
It sounds like it should be easy, since your first dog is well-behaved, and the puppy is a calm boy. Offhand I would say enjoy it! If you do not want the pup mounting the older girl, start early discouraging it. When you catch him in the act, a firm 'no' or 'ah-ah' (or whatever word you use) should do as a correction.
Have fun and good luck. And post piccies please!

How exciting to get your older one a playmate, I always believed in two for two. It gives them time to play and keep company with each. It will also kinda relieve you, believe it or not. I have 7 adults that are no problem other than when turned all together I must stand at attention. But, i had 3 inside since June, just put Girle in kennel in heat, do not want her bred.
I am so happy for you all.

Oh my goodness he is gorgeous, what a pretty boy. Doesn't sound like you need any advice, you are well aquainted with the breed and have already done a good job of raising your existing dog , sounds like a great time to get a second dog.
