Default Suggestions for getting some sleep

I have a new poodle puppy, and he is 12 weeks old now! He's incredible except for one thing! He loves to get up early and stay up! Like sometimes at 4 in the morning, he'll go outside and then occasionally go back to sleep. Any suggestions on how to keep him to sleep longer. He is sleeping in a kennel each night. Would it be okay to ignore him until like 8am?

im now on my 2nd puppy. Try keeping him active until you are ready to go to YOUR bed, tire him out, dont let him cat nap. I have also been giving my a feed at bed time so thier tummys are full!! Im crate training my 2nd one (as I did my 1st) seems to be working OK so far!! (touch wood)
Good luck..I know the sleepless nites can catch up on you and make yah really grumpy!!

LOL....my 14 week old is the same! We get up at around 5 for a potty trip and then he thinks its rise and shine time for the day! 5o????? I think not!
I go and plop him in with one of the kids. Kidding......if I did that, I'd get NO MORE sleep.
I take him back to bed with me, along with his denta-bone, tuck all my arms and legs under the blanket so he cant bite them, put a stocking cap on my head or else he'll attempt to pull my hair out.
And lay STILL while you are trying to go back to sleep. Gawd help you if you move a toe, a finger or even sneeze.......then he'll be sure you are playing some game with no name yet...and attack the blankets.
At some point, I usually put the pillow right over my head as he thinks my nose is a wonderful chew toy......or else he'll stick his nose in my mouth and try to dental-floss my teeth for me.
Then...at 5:20......we get up to start the day.
I hope I helped you buy an extra 20 minutes of sleep. Thats all I can manage around here.

julie....that is hilarious...and far too close to what we are going through!!!!! My daughter and I both had a good laugh! This past week we have put his kennel.....with puppy pad.....and toys in the utility bathroom. And about 7:30 we get him "up". And actually he has whined too much or even pottied until we retrieve him! Life is much better! I think he is just a very social little dog and loves being with people.....but we're going to stick to the new routine.....life is better!
