Default Puppies First Night

Sooo we picked up our little Billi today.

He had been bought just over a week ago by a lovely couple from a breeder.
They had 3 big labradors and billi was nervous hence them selling him on.

Billi is 9 weeks old, we've cuddled him, and let him run around our place... he is now in his crate but is whimpering and crying...

It's breaking my heart, I want to snuggle up with him but feel if i break the habit now it's gonna be a long hard process.

Billi has however just settled into his 1st home only to be moved to his 2nd, I wonder how long it will take before he settles in.

From an anxious new mum

xx

Edit: p.s. Billi is a Bichon Frise

Congratulations! I do hope you'll post some pics as we'd love to see your new pup. It will take him a few days to adjust. Don't worry, you're doing the right thing by ignoring the whimpers. Stay strong & his adjustment period will be lots shorter.

Good luck! And, let's see some pics!

As for dog food we weren't actually going to buy him today but decided it was better than letting him settle any longer where he was.

We picked up a tin of dog food on the way home for the morning... the other owners fed him on chicken and rice... literally, I'm not sure if he'll be ok on a small part of the dog food until i can go out and get him either puppy food or chicken.

I don't want to mix his diet up too much but we've no chicken in the house till i go out tomorrow

I will post up pics asap

You have any rice? I'd boil some rice and add a very small amount of the dog food unitl you get to the stores.

Hi kegan5,
how exciting to have a new pup in the house!
Of course the little mite is going to cry and whimper-he's used to sleeping with mum and his littermates and now he is alone. Perhaps you have a soft toy he could snuggle up to to make it easier for him.

Good luck with your newpuppy. Do you know if his original breeder has been informed that he now has a new home? I only ask because know if I was breeding I would have taken the puppy back, and either kept him or sold him on myelf and that way I would always know where he is, just a small point and from an owners point of view I like to keep in touch with the breeder/s of my dogs. Anyhow you are not to blame if the breeder has not been told, so just you enjoy your little man.

Thanks for the advice Borzoi,

The breeder was actually a lady I had spoken to about getting a pup, it just so happened the couple we bought billi off had bought him from the same breeder.

I will give her a call though, she did say if we found a pup to call her and she'd help out
